Friends Circle safety

Meet easily. Keep control of your comfort.

Most circles should feel light and friendly. These few habits protect that experience without turning friendship into paperwork.

Open circles & plans · 18+

From circle conversation to meeting in person

Adults aged 18+ meet in public places. Plans at private homes or accommodation, dating, sales, and spam are not allowed. Titles, descriptions, and venues are public, so never include a home address, contact details, children’s information, or someone else’s private information. Family Circles use a separate flow.

Members organize Open Plans themselves. A listing does not mean the venue or participants are endorsed, and replies or attendance are not guaranteed. Confirm the public place and time before attending. You can leave a plan or walk away whenever you feel uncomfortable.

Keep member introductions and conversations within their circle. Don’t demand contact details or contact someone privately without permission. Don’t exclude or pressure someone because of language ability or cultural background. Joining a circle is not agreement to attend a plan or pay someone.

1

Before the first meetup

Choose a busy public place, keep the plan in circle chat, and tell someone you trust where you are going.

2

During the meetup

Control your own transport, drinks, belongings, and exit. You never owe anyone private contact details, a ride, another venue, or more time.

3

Respect is the baseline

No harassment, discrimination, pressure, sexual behavior, threats, scams, unwanted recording, or sharing another member’s private information.

Family Circles

Extra care for Family Circles

Family Circles are parent-to-parent community meetups—not childcare or a drop-off program. A guardian stays present and supervises their own child. Meet in public child-friendly places during daylight, do not provide solo childcare or transport another family’s child, and never share a child’s photo, name, school, or other details without clear guardian consent.

Private reporting

If something feels wrong

Leave first if you need to. Use Report in your open circle or plan, or Report a concern in your matched-circle dashboard. Reports are private to authorized Friends Circle admins and do not appear in the conversation. This is not an emergency response service.

Immediate danger in Korea: call Police 112 or Fire/Rescue 119. Foreign tourist support is available at 1330.

You can also contact andrew@makeacircle.org. Email is not monitored as an emergency service.
